Who is Om Nacho?

Michelle is a Palestinian-American artist born and raised in the diaspora in Arizona, on O’odham and Hohokam land.

Nacho is her cat.

Not the only furry resident in the house, but the orangest, the largest, the longest companion, and the constant presence over her shoulder every stitch she stitches.

The shop has had a few iterations over the years- it was branded as Goose & Gold from 2019-2022 and was focused on papercraft, hand-burned pyrography wood items, and etched glassware before closing for a while (Michelle also works full time in the software industry and had to pause artistic pursuits for a time).

In mid-2023, after years of feeling like something was missing when she tried other embroidery styles, Michelle finally began her tatreez journey and experienced the joy of both this Palestinian art form and the magic of the community and it quickly took over.

In spring of 2024, the shop was reopened and rebranded as Om Nacho (“Nacho’s mother” in Arabic) with a focus on items related to Palestine, Palestinian tatreez, and the fight for freedom, self-determination, and Right of Return.

100% of profits of purchases from Om Nacho are donated to aid in Gaza. To see where the money goes, or to donate directly without purchasing, see the Fundraising page.
